Mother Earth
Explore being in relationship with our rapidly changing Mother Earth.
Applied Interspiritual Companioning
Companioning Mother Earth
We now understand that there is a spiritual dimension to our present ecological crisis. For too long we have neglected or viewed Nature as a resource to do with as we saw fit. A new worldview is dawning upon us, though: We are integral to the health and well-being of all life. How then, do we reconnect with what we feel we have lost, or never connected within the first place? How can we recognize the interconnectedness of all life?
Eco-Spirituality will guide us in seeing the cosmic journey we are all on, so that we may be spiritual guides companioning others seeking to realize this journey. This concentration will provide practical exercises in the field to generate first hand deeply felt experiences in ourselves. As we explore being in relationship with a rapidly changing Mother Earth, we discover our unique approach to walking with others with and through this lens.
Through live sessions and eLearning
modules, students will:
Ponder The Cosmos, Planetary Systems, Bioregions, Ecosystems, and Backyards as we ask, "Where do we look? Where do we belong? Where is Spirit?"
Explore Nature Intakes as invitations to our companions into the natural world. And by extension how to provide safety, sacred space, comfort, presence, and deep listening in this context.
Learn practical skills of having a nature session using Zoom to "walk with" our companions utilizing technology.
Partake in The Gift of Life and how it relates to the Divine/Spirit
Investigate how we relate to the "Other than Human Beings" from the tiny - the microbial world, the mosses, lichen, mycelia - to the large - the creepers and crawlers, winged, finned and furred
Delve into the "other" 3R's: Respect, Relationship, Reciprocity to understand our relationships, how we can reciprocate
Meditate on The Elements to consider how we are all made of the same substance, Stardust
Engage with The Seasons to uncover how we can do Summer practices in Winter or Fall practices in Spring
“We still do not know one-thousandth of one percent of what nature has revealed to us.”
— Albert Einstein
