Uncurb Your Enthusiasm!

Facilitated by Rev. Joshua Ellis, Rev. Lynn Manuell, and Rev. Susan Nason.

“Nothing is so contagious as enthusiasm.”

— Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Enthusiasm is the vital ingredient for starting, continuing, and completing a project. The topic in and of itself, makes people smile and get enthusiastic. Through personal stories, songs, a short hilarious video, and some gentle interactive participation, we’ll amp up the adventure of letting enthusiasm ignite the spark within. As social commentator Ivern Ball wrote: "Knowledge is power but enthusiasm pulls the switch.”

January 13 is days before the Jewish holiday of “Tu Bishvat,” a celebration of trees and the start of the growing season. In many parts of the world, the trees may be bare and appear dead, but on that day, Jews believe that it is nature’s first day to call to the sap in the trees to wake up and start preparing for spring. We see nothing on the surface as evidence, but below in the ground, a lot is happening. Let’s celebrate that miracle! Don’t wait till spring! Start on January 13, 2022, in the midst of winter, to ignite your spirit with the gifts of enthusiasm.

“If you can give your child only one gift, let it be enthusiasm.”

— Bruce Barton

"The secret of genius is to carry the spirit of the child into old age, which means never losing your enthusiasm.”

— Aldous Huxley
