Dates: Thursday, March 4, 2021, 7 pm ET
Available by: Join by Videoconference Only (learn more about videoconference)
Suggested Love Offering: $ 10.00

Hosted by Rev. Deb Goldman and Rev. Garrett A. Foster

Prayer is powerful, transformative, and healing.

Praying out loud — and with others — takes the practice to an even deeper level. Yet many are afraid they don't know how to do this "correctly," won't use the right words, or have not related to the prayers they've experienced in the past.

During this gathering, Reverends Deb Goldman and Garrett A. Foster will share the many gifts and benefits of their longtime prayer partnership, explore various ways of praying using language that speaks to the soul of the person in front of you and lead you in a practice that will breathe new life into the way you converse and connect with that which is greater than ourselves.

Rev. Garrett A. Foster is a three-time cancer survivor. Each diagnosis became a tremendous gift and led him to committing to a life of love, gratitude, and service. Ordained by One Spirit, Garrett is an interfaith minister, inter-spiritual counselor, Unity-trained prayer chaplain, Life-Cycle Celebrant™, and community builder. He is the founder of the online Community In Spirit; and will be launching his Spiritual Writers Academy™ in the fall of 2020. A graduate of Vassar College where he majored in English, Garrett spent three decades as a senior writer, editor and manager at Soap Opera Magazine, and The Palm Beach Post and Sun Sentinel newspapers. Early in his career, he won a Daytime Emmy Award for his writing contributions on the CBS drama Guiding Light. He is the author of the self-published novel, The Accident of Being Human. His follow-up novel, The Weight of Faith, will be available soon. Garrett is most called to work with writers and creative types; people who have been bullied, oppressed and marginalized; anyone facing a cancer or other life-threatening diagnosis; and those who are drawn to the path of the mystic. Garrett and his partner of 30 years, Brian, divide their time between South Florida and Merida, Mexico, in the Yucatan. Together they have co-created and owned two successful small businesses; and raised a menagerie of furry rescue animals.

Rev. Deb Goldman

Infused by her love of poetry, dance, and the natural world, and informed by her experience as an Expressive Therapist and Ritual Artist, Reverend Deb Goldman is known for her warm and grounded presence, her creation of sacred space, her deep listening and genuine outpouring of personalized prayer, and her engaging leadership style. In her roles as Life Cycle Celebrant®, Interspiritual Minister and Counselor, Deb has had the privilege of praying with people at the most poignant moments of life. Whether it is the expectancy of a pregnant mother, the anticipation and anxiety of new parents, or the deep pain of tragic loss. Whether at the threshold of marriage or the great unknown; joyfully blessing a new home or clearing out the energy of past; marking milestones at every stage of life or looking back with elders in review, Deb can be found praying from a deep wellspring of language, imagery, belief systems, and her own personal experiences of sacrifice and struggle. Having interned as a Healthcare Chaplain on hospital medical floors, in emergency rooms, ICUs, a birth center, rehab center, and senior living communities; and having offered Shamanic Reiki and Spiritual Care at two Hospice Houses, Deb has had the privilege of being present for the very first moments of life and the very last. She has joined her hands and heart with vulnerable patients, traumatized veterans, grateful survivors, fellow congregants, and loved ones gathered around before and after the last breaths of life. In all that she does, Deb is sustained by the precious prayer partnership she shares with her dear friend, Garrett Foster.
