Green Burial: Sacredness and Sustainability
Facilitated by Rev. Carin M. Bonifacino
Many people have heard the term green burial, but how many of us actually know what it entails or means? In this Gathering, we will look at green burial from two perspectives: First, from its ecological, Earth-friendly practices and second, from the opportunities it provides to engage with the mystery of death and the sacred.
Participants will learn what green burial is, see photos of green burial grounds currently in use, and tap into resources to find green cemeteries where they live. Attendees will also learn about the multiple opportunities for participation in the burial of a loved one and how this participation is ripe for ritual and the honoring of the sacred.
