On the Heroine's Journey...

With Rev. Sarah "Leia" Bowen, Rev. Jen "Wonder" Schrad, and Rev. Diane "Eowyn" Emerald

Come celebrate Super-Spirituality with spiritual practices from our favorite modern epics: Wonder Woman, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars!

Join in community rituals. Then, take part in a guided meditation, tapping your inner heroine to help tackle injustices on behalf of our beloved Earth and her many beings of all species (known or unknown by us terrestrial mortals, perhaps even some from a galaxy far, far, away!)

Facilitators

Rev. Sarah Bowen (she/they)

Sarah A. Bowen is an animal chaplain, interspecies minister, award-winning author... and aspiring Jedi! She teaches interspecies mindfulness practices, supports humans experiencing animal loss and grief, and advocates for exploited and endangered species within both religious and secular contexts. You can often find her huddled over wildlife struck by cars, giving them a sacred sendoff, or leading a Sunday Service at Compassion Consortium, the first interfaith, interspiritual, and interspecies faith community. Sarah is a columnist for Spirituality & Health magazine and co-host of the Big Universe Show on Unity Online Radio. Her books include "Sacred Sendoffs: An Animal Chaplain’s Advice For Surviving Animal Loss, Making Life Meaningful, & Healing The Planet", "Spiritual Rebel: A Positively Addictive Guide to Finding Deeper Perspective and Higher Purpose," and "Void if Detached: Seeking Modern Spirituality through My Father’s Old Sermons." As a member of Spiritual Directors International, the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement, as well as several recovery and faith communities, she guides others in connecting with the higher power of their own understanding to reduce suffering for all living beings. She holds a BA in Human Ecology, MA in Religious Studies, was ordained by One Spirit in 2017, and is joyfully engaged in postgraduate research in Humane Religious Studies and Anthrozoology.

Rev. Diane "Eowyn" Emerald

Rev. Diane "Emerald" Bronowicz Egelhoff of One Spirit’s Class of 2020 (“Love Unleashed!”) has served as a Priestess and Leader in her religious and spiritual communities, both local and international, for 20+ years. Her interfaith approach stems in part from her polytheism, and she has been called to serve as a bridge between the NeoPagan and Interfaith/Interspiritual communities. Her personal practice incorporates Druid, Wiccan, and Hellenic traditions and the modalities of trance, seership, scholarship, and magic to honor the Gods, the Ancestors, and the Spirits of this World while acknowledging the cycles of Earth, Moon and Sun. An accomplished ligurgist, ritualist, and bard, she teaches workshops on topics including crafting effective worship services, dancing the divine, and theatre in ritual. Her ministry focuses on writing and performing personalized rites of passage, primarily within underserved and marginalized communities, but also for all people who want to mark their lives’ turning points in a spiritual way but do not have a set practice or congregation to which to turn. Diane earned a BA in History and Theatre Arts from Boston College and a Master’s in Education from Duquesne University. She lives on 14 wooded acres northeast of Pittsburgh, PA with her partner, three cats, and one rambunctious American Bully.
