Rev. Martha Dewing

Rev. Martha Dewing was ordained by One Spirit in 2006. She has served as a member of the admissions team, coordinator of the mentoring program, and as a second-year deans’ assistant before becoming a first-year dean.

In 2019 she segued to One Spirit’s Chaplain, serving current students, graduates, and the staff. She began her career as an elementary school teacher in New York and Vienna, Austria, and subsequently published and edited ``Children's Video Report: It Matters What Children Watch,” a newsletter about children and media, and two books about mindfully using video with children. She was also a potter with a studio in the garment district in New York with a gas kiln! Martha worked for several years with the Caring Circle, a family bereavement program in Westchester County, NY. She served on the board at Miriam’s Well, a teaching facility in upstate New York whose mission was to offer transformational experiences that initiate and sustain conscious spiritual evolution toward peaceful coexistence. Her undergraduate degree is from New York University and she holds a master’s degree from Harvard University.

The 2024 Commencement marked Rev. Martha’s retirement as One Spirit Chaplain.
