Please join us for the final installment of the series, “Remembering Our Forgotten Community”. Our journey began with the viewing of the documentary 13th, followed by two events which uplifted the voices of men, women, transgender people and youth impacted by mass incarceration and the toll on their families. Our previous event highlighted the catch-22 of the parole system with the viewing of The Interview.
Our journey continues with The Compassion Prison Project whose main focus is on childhood trauma and how it affects the lives of men and women living and working in prisons. As Parker Palmer states, “ Violence is what happens when we don’t know what else to do with our suffering.” We are honored to have the founder and producer, Fritzi Horstman from the CPP, with us to view and discuss their two powerful documentaries called Step Into The Circle and The Honor Yard. She believes it is urgent to bring humanity and compassion to those living behind bars and these acts will help transform our society. We hope you can join us for this transformative evening and the invitation to be used by compassion as “the compass for action” to bring our forgotten brothers and sisters back into our hearts and within our communities.
