TAOISM: Understanding the Mystery
The movement of Tao is to return.
The way of Tao is to yield.
Heaven, Earth, and all things are born of existent world.
The existent world is born of the nothingness of Tao...
The often complex and indefinable concept of Taoism may confuse the seeker. It is possible to understand this ancient religion and philosophy by understanding the individual components that the mystery of Tao offers.
This 4-part series on Taoism includes a delve into these individual components. We will look at the origins of Taoism, those that brought it to us, and how it is practiced both as a philosophy and religion. We will look at how Taoism supports the body, mind, and spirit and brings healing and balance into our daily lives.
By the end of this course, participants will have an understanding of:
The history, works, and writings of Lao Tzu, Mencius, Zhuang Zi, and some of the immortal deities
The practices of Taoism, such as
movement exercises and internal qi cultivation
breathing techniques
six healing sounds
visualization
The 5-elements and how we can use them for self-healing
Taoism as both a philosophy and a religion
Some passages of the Taoist sacred texts
Simple Taoist practices that can be used daily*
*no knowledge of Taoism is required, modifications for those with physical limitations will be provided.
By exploring Tao we explore ourselves and learn to let go. Join us in this 4-part series and learn to bring more harmony to your life.
