“The difference between a broken community and a thriving one is the presence of women who are valued.”

-Michelle Obama

This panel discussion for “re-MEMBERing” our forgotten community Part II is to reinforce that “out of sight is not out of mind.” ALL of us are needed members of ONE human family with a shared consciousness and journey towards liberation.

The female incarcerated population stands over seven times higher than it was in 1980. Though many more men are in prison than women, the rate of growth for female imprisonment has been twice as high as that of men since 1980. Between 1980 and 2019, the number of incarcerated women increased by more than 700%.

Join One Spirit in Action in uplifting the voices and lives of our formally incarcerated sisters through deep sharing as we re-imagine our justice system through a lens of “just us” with no one left out. This event concludes with opportunities to be “IN ACTION” to de-carcerate and support those who are currently and formerly incarcerated.
