Spirits of Samhain
The turn of October into November has, across cultures from ancestral times, been a time to welcome the harvest and usher in the "dark time of the year." In many cultures, this eve of entering darkness meant the barriers between the living and the dead weakened, facilitating interaction between humans and those in Spirit form. This belief has given rise to a wealth of colorful folkloric beliefs about the relationship between life and death, good and evil, and how to honor (or placate) the spirits of dead in various cultures, including Samhain in Ireland, to Día de los Muertos in Mexico, the Hungry Ghost Festival in Japan, and Pitru Paksha in India.
In the “Spirits of Samhain,” progressive Irish medium and best-selling author, Karen Frances McCarthy, talks to One Spirit board member Court Stroud and answers your questions about this time of the year when the veil thins. She’ll also talk about communing with spirits, much like the Druids did (and do).
Join us on October 28, for this insightful and entertaining evening as we prepare to meet the supernatural.
