Being Peace in a Troubled World
Facilitated by Rev. Molly Hansen and Rev. Garrett Foster (OSIS 2018 & One Spirit ISC 2019)
What are you feeling today? Are you just plain exhausted and afraid about what swirls around us every single day.
Rev. Molly and Rev. Garrett offer a much-needed respite from the vitriol. They will guide us toward finding peace within ourselves and planting seeds of peace everywhere we go.
In the words of the beloved Thich Nhat Hanh, “If you want peace, you have to be peace.”
Through poetry, prayer, meditation, music and sharing our experiences, we will begin “Being Peace in a Troubled World.
Facilitators
Rev. Molly Hansen
Reverend Molly Hansen was ordained through One Spirit Interfaith-Interspiritual Seminary (2018) and earned certification as a Spiritual Companion in Care in December 2020. Molly volunteers in a variety of roles with One Spirit and, since January 2020, she has been serving as meditation leader for the Thursday morning sangha. Back home in Chicago, Molly serves The Spiritual Gathering as a board member, regular speaker, meditation leader and Prayer Chaplain. Trained in the wisdom and spiritual practices of many of the world’s faith traditions, Reverend Molly has taken the opportunity for a deeper spiritual dive during the pandemic and has found the practice of equanimity to be particularly enlightening and helpful during the immense challenges of the last two years. Molly often turns to Thich Nhat Hanh, Pema Chodron and Padraig O’Tuama for guidance when the going gets rough.
Rev. Garrett Foster
Rev. Garrett A. Foster is an interfaith minister and inter-spiritual counselor. A graduate of Vassar College, Garrett spent three decades working as a writer, editor and senior manager in television, newspapers and magazines. He won a Daytime Emmy Award as one of the writers of the CBS daytime drama Guiding Light, and he is the author of the novel The Accident of Being Human. Being diagnosed with cancer three times became one of his greatest gifts and teachers and led him to One Spirit and a life of service. Garrett vows "to do what he loves — and to spread loving doing it." He considers himself to be a mystic and companions those on the mystic path. He also has a passion for the healing power of prayer and using the Enneagram as a tool for spiritual growth.
