Special Event: Book Talk with Dr Kurt Johnson on Interspirituality, Volumes I & II

Don’t miss this opportunity to converse with Dr. Kurt Johnson about the historic publishing of the volumes Interspirituality: The Heritage and Interspirituality: The Future. These volumes will be published in the fall of 2025, following the 25-year anniversary of Wayne Teasdale’s The Mystic Heart: Discovering a Universal Spirituality in the World's Religions and Kurt Johnson’s The Coming Interspiritual Age (2013).

Dr. Kurt Johnson, a Board Meritus of One Spirit Learning Alliance, was originally a Christian monk and founded, with Br. Wayne Teasdale and others, the InterSpiritual Dialogue association for discussion of contemplative experience across traditions. Ordained in three spiritual traditions, Kurt has also worked with The Contemplative Alliance and Integral communities.

Interspirituality: The Heritage, along with Interspirituality: The Future, forms a historic two-volume set. Appearing on the 25th anniversary of Br. Wayne Teasdale's seminal work, The Mystic Heart, this volume honors his prophetic vision of Interspirituality as "the common heritage of humankind's spiritual wisdom" and "the age we are now entering." Building on over a century of interfaith engagement, Volume 1 traces the evolution of this movement from 1999 to 2015, illuminating how people from diverse backgrounds are bridging traditions and rediscovering the sacred through one another.

With newly written articles, selected excerpts, abridgements, essays, and historical reflections, The Heritage captures the formative years of Interspirituality. The volume includes foundational benchmarks such as the Snowmass Dialogues, the Monastic Interreligious Dialogue, the Interspiritual Dialogue, Spiritual Paths, One Spirit and Satyana networks, the New Monasticism, and many more initiatives, organizations, and events.

Framing the volume are H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama and Matthew Fox, alongside a diverse array of mystics, activists, educators, and spiritual leaders committed to building a "world that works for all." Contributors speak to the spiritual dimensions of partnership consciousness, peace, justice, economic equity, sacred activism, ecological healing, and our evolutionary future.

One Spirit is offering both volumes at a discount for current students and affiliated members. Normally $55.90, get both volumes through One Spirit for only $45! You can also choose to pay full price and donate the difference to One Spirit Learning Alliance.

Interspirituality: The Heritage brings together more than 100 global contributors to explore the roots, emergence, and meaning of the interspiritual experience-a dynamic convergence of the world's wisdom traditions grounded in shared values of compassion, justice, unity, and love. Associated with the American Museum of Natural History (30 yrs.), he published 200+ articles on evolution and ecology, including the 2011 Harvard DNA sequence study vindicating Vladimir Nabokov’s views of evolution. In 2015, Kurt was elected to The Evolutionary Leaders. However, Kurt’s primary interest is the simplicity of non-dual spiritual practice.
