Community Guidelines
One Spirit’s Community Agreements
We are so glad you're here. At One Spirit, we believe that community is cultivated through time, attention, and sacred shared space, and that every circle we gather in is strengthened by the care each of us brings to it. Whether you're joining a class, a community gathering, an affinity group, or a workshop, these agreements and touchstones are our shared commitment to creating spaces that are safe, welcoming, and respectful of the many paths, traditions, and truths among us. We invite you to read them not as rules, but as an offering: a way of being together that honors the divinity in each person and makes room for honest connection.
1. We will maintain a circle of trust that respects others’ divine right to confidentiality within and beyond this sacred space.
2. We will speak our truth in a way that respects the truth of others.
3. We will use "I" statements rather than "You" or “People” statements.
4. We will respect the boundaries and honor the divinity of each individual.
5. We will hold space for what is, including the uncomfortable, the changing, and the unresolved.
6. We will connect with support systems as we need to.
(i.e., help@1spirit.org, care@1spirit.org, listening@1spirit.org).
The Touchstones for Safe Spaces
The Center for Courage & Renewal uses a set of core guidelines called Touchstones to establish safe, trustworthy spaces for reflection and dialogue in their Circle of Trust® retreats. One Spirit deeply aligns with these touchstones and encourages their inclusion in all of our community spaces.
• Give and receive welcome:
Create hospitable spaces where everyone supports each other's learning.
• Be present as fully as possible:
Bring your doubts, fears, and failings alongside your convictions, joys, and successes.
• Offerings by invitation, not demand:
Share only what your soul calls for; it is never a "share or die" environment.
• Speak your truth in ways that respect others:
Use "I" statements and avoid interpreting, correcting, or debating what others say.
• No fixing, saving, advising, or correcting:
Refrain from trying to help or change someone else; make room for the inner teacher.
• Respond with honest, open questions:
Ask questions to help others listen to themselves rather than directing them to an answer.
• Turn to wonder when the going gets rough:
Set aside judgment and ask what a reaction or difference in belief teaches you.
• Attend to your own inner teacher:
Pay close attention to your own internal reactions and wisdom.
• Learn from silence:
Treat silence as a member of the group and reflect before immediately filling the space with words.
• Observe deep confidentiality:
Trust that stories and words shared in the circle remain there and are not repeated without permission.
• Know leaving with needs met is possible:
Trust that the seeds planted in the circle can keep growing afterward
