In this workshop…

We will explore one simple thing that every person can do to reconnect with the cycles of life, prevent pollution, increase social and ecological resilience in their community, and heal the earth at its most foundational level: composting. We will focus on composting as a central spiritual practice that brings us back into the flow of life and nourishes biodiversity, thereby healing both our souls and the soil.

This workshop is for…

Anyone who has a desire to care for the Earth and wants a practical, hands-on way to do so.

This workshop is for anyone who feels drawn to the soil, to composting, to death work and transformation, to Indigenous wisdom and earth-centered spirituality.

We will look at the feelings of overwhelm and despair that plague us, and gain a shared practice to move beyond those things and into our energizing work as soil stewards, caretakers, and Earth guardians.

Attendees can look forward to being in a shared space with other people who understand the dire situation we are in and are ready to engage fully with the work of healing.

Coming Back to Earth, Four Sessions

Session 1: The Intelligence of Earth

Healthy soils are crucial for the proper functioning of all Earth's systems; we’ll explore what makes soil healthy and why our soils are so degraded.

Session 2: Composting Colonization Culture

We’ll further explore how our cultural mindset of separation from nature has led to the degradation of our planet’s soils and, consequently, everything that depends on them (i.e., everything).

Session 3: Coming Back Into the Cycle

We’ll look more closely at composting as a simple step everyone can take to reconnect with the cycles of life, restore their local soils, and build resilience in their community.

Session 4: Becoming a Soil Steward

We’ll review what’s been learned, share our composting plans (developed since the last session), and share a blessing or anointing ritual as a send-off.
